What Sewage Cleanup Through Our Network Includes
This isn't something to tackle with household cleaners. Exposure can cause gastrointestinal illness and infections, and improper cleanup leaves contamination behind in materials you can't see into.
Proper PPE & Biohazard Protocols
Contractors wear respirators, eye protection, nitrile gloves, and protective suits, and set up containment to keep contamination out of clean areas. That protects your family and the rest of the house.
Licensed & Insured Independent Pros
We connect you with licensed and insured independent contractors experienced in Category 3 cleanup. Confirm credentials directly before work begins.
Clear Pricing Before Work
You get a written estimate covering removal, disinfection, and drying. Disposal of contaminated materials is spelled out too.
Rapid Local Response
Sewage spreads odor and contamination quickly, especially in warm weather. We route your call to an available contractor near Lisbon right away.
What Sewage Backup Cleanup Covers
Sewage cleanup follows a strict sequence.
Area Isolation
Containment walls and air scrubbers isolate the affected area. Foot traffic is limited to protect clean rooms.
Sewage Extraction & Material Removal
After extraction, contaminated porous materials are cut out, bagged, and hauled off. Porous items can't be made safe after sewage contact.
Cleaning & Disinfection
Hard surfaces and framing are scrubbed and treated with EPA-registered disinfectants. Some contractors verify cleanliness with ATP swab testing.
Deodorization & Air Scrubbing
Air scrubbers and odor treatments clear the smell once contamination is gone. Masking odor without removing the source never works.
Drain Line & Backflow Assessment
Common causes include root intrusion, grease, collapsed pipe, or city sewer overload. A plumber's camera inspection finds the cause, and a backwater valve can help prevent a repeat.

The Sewage Backup Cleanup Process
Safety and sequence matter more here than anywhere.
Stop Using Water & Call
Don't flush or run water, keep everyone out of the area, and dial +1-877-637-9008. More water down the drain means more sewage coming up.
Contractor Arrives in PPE
A nearby pro suits up and isolates the area. They assess how far the contamination spread.
Estimate & Removal
After you approve the estimate, extraction and tear-out begin. Waste is handled and hauled according to regulations.
Disinfect, Dry & Clear
Surfaces are disinfected, the area is dried, and odor is addressed. Rebuild can start after that.
What Callers Say After a Backup
Nobody wants to make this call, but these callers were glad they did.
Tree roots blocked our main line and sewage came up through the basement shower drain. They set containment, removed the carpet and lower drywall, and sanitized the whole area. You couldn't smell a thing after.
— Alan G., LisbonI was ready to clean it up with bleach. They explained why porous materials had to be removed and why bleach alone wouldn't do it.
— Samantha K., LisbonA storm surcharged the city line and backed into several homes on our block. They had our basement sanitized and recommended a backwater valve so it doesn't happen again.
— Henry L., LisbonWhat People Ask About Sewage Backups
Is sewage backup dangerous?
Yes. Raw sewage is Category 3 black water and can carry bacteria such as E. coli, viruses, and parasites. Skin contact, splashes, and contaminated air can all cause illness, so keep people and pets away until it's professionally cleaned.
Can I clean up sewage myself?
Small, contained spills on hard surfaces might be manageable with proper protection, but most backups involve porous materials and hidden contamination. Professional cleanup with PPE, containment, and registered disinfectants is the safer choice.
What causes sewage backups?
Common causes include tree root intrusion, grease or wipes clogging the line, collapsed or bellied sewer pipe, and heavy rain overloading municipal sewers.
Does insurance cover sewage backup?
Often only with a sewer backup endorsement. Without that rider, many policies don't cover it, so check your coverage.
How can I prevent sewage from backing up again?
A camera inspection, regular line maintenance, and a backwater valve are the best defenses, along with keeping grease and wipes out of the drains.
